How To Build An Attractive & Affordable Greenhouse In Simple And Easy Steps...

Not having read any reviews, I was expecting a book aimed simply at the carpenter or handyman seeking guidance on how to “bang in the nails” and build a greenhouse

This guide is so, very much more. To begin with, you are given advice on which plants to grow in your new greenhouse, how to grow grapes and make your own wine, even in a cold climate. How about making a return on your investment by growing the world's most expensive spice.

Greenhouse Plans

I hadn’t really given much thought to the in's and out's of the various types of greenhouse before I bought this book.

There's a wealth of information about the different types of greenhouses, lean to greenhouses, cold frames, even a section on Polytunnels. The best way to build a greenhouse to fit the space you have, even for the smallest backyard.

How to heat your greenhouse efficiently should you need to, how to shade it if needed, what lighting to use, how to ventilate your greenhouse properly and host of other tips and tricks to get the most of your project.

The best part of the whole guide however, is the reason I bought it…the planning and construction of the greenhouse itself.

First of all, I have to say that I’m not especially gifted at DIY. Sure, I can measure, saw, drill and hammer, but not with any great skill. The tools required are all very basic. If I had bought the same greenhouse that I have built, it would have cost me double at least. The money I have saved has stocked me with baby plants which will grace the garden and the dinner table soon enough.

The construction plans are so easy to understand, and because the book is on my computer I was able to reprint a few that I messed up. In addition, they are in color.

"A Must Read Book"
Greenhouse Plans

It’s a miracle indeed for someone like me to build a fantastic greenhouse which I will reap the benefits of for years to come.

Now I’m re-reading all the books (there are extra free bonuses) to learn even more about the exciting things I can grow. I've even started on making a small vertical greenhouse like the one on the left as I have a space near the garage which is doing nothing at the moment.

Overall, I have to say that whether you’re a complete beginner at DIY and working on a small budget, or an expert with more funds available, you will find this book unbeatable

Greenhouse Plans - How to Build A Greenhouse

Having your own greenhouse becomes an incredibly rewarding hobby, both in terms of relaxation and also if you decide to grow your own food you will have the added benefit of knowing exactly what went into the food on your plate.

You can be secure in the knowledge that no harmful pesticides are making their way into you or your family.

There really is no better way to unwind from the daily stresses than spending in time with your plants.

One of the first things you should consider when planning your greenhouse construction is the site.

You need to choose a position which will make the most of whatever winter sunlight is available to you. You should also site it on ground that isn't too boggy and should be as level as possible. If your site is at the bottom of a hill or slope then you may need to consider some form of drainage to redirect water away from your greenhouse.

The next step is to decide upon the shape of greenhouse that best suits your needs, a traditional A frame type or maybe a polytunnel shape would be best, or if you're short of space maybe a lean-to type?

You will need basic tools, saw, hammer, spirit level and a drill but other than that you will be OK.

You should always use pressure treated lumber for your greenhouse materials as it will of course be outside and subject to the elements. The correct timber will make sure that you get many, many years of enjoyment and use from your greenhouse.

Do have a think about the glazing aspects as well, do you have children for example? If you doo then you will need to think about using glazing which is child friendly such as polycarbonate, which won't break like traditional glass would.

Also give some consideration to the accessories you will need to put in your greenhouse, things like staging (shelves) maybe a bench while you work on your tender seedlings. Space for a greenhouse heater if you need one.

How will you water your plants, you may need to give consideration to storing rainwater nearby for example.

With some careful thought up front, you will be sure to get the maximum pleasure from your greenhouse project and enjoy your plants and vegatables for years to come.
